One “beary good” article

In order to keep spirits up Reception and Year 1, Fundraisers At Clore Tikva (FACT) decided to gift the children in both years a new little friend…

The children were asked “whilst we can’t be together, please keep your new teddy safe, warm and to let your teachers and friends know what adventures you and your new friend get up to”. The bears were distributed in a Covid safe way and were very happy to be rehomed.

Some ideas that the children were asked to try were:

– Have an indoor teddy bear’s picnic complete and design an afternoon tea menu,
– Draw a picture and introduce the teddy, complete with new name

– Create an invitation and invite their classmates to a virtual teddy party

– Think of a name, the bear’s age, favourite food, favourite colour and favourite lesson.

Some very inventive names were given “Beary”, “BearBear”, Teetee (for teacher of course!), “Teddy”, “Monty Jr”, and “Lovely Bear”! There was of course no pressure to do any of this as simple bear cuddles were all that was needed.

Some “beary lovely” pictures have been uploaded to
their respective classes on Google Classroom so that
both teachers and children have been able to see what their friends have been up to with their new little friends and share their stories! It has provided much chatter and laughter during “show and tell” sessions as well as enabling creative writing and artistic practice to take place.

The venture was a “roaring” success as all the children were beyond delighted to receive their little bear. Mel Phillips, Head of FACT said “Whilst the children were missing their friends and couldn’t be together in class, it was fantastic to be able to send a new little friend their way. To hear that the children were so excited to get their bear and to see their gorgeous pictures, really put a smile on our faces.
