Jew Talkin’ about the British Podcast Awards?

When Essex-born comedian Rachel Creeger and comedy partner Philip Simon started their podcast, ‘Jew Talkin’ to Me?’ during the first lockdown little did they know that it would still be going strong a year later! (much like lockdown itself!)

Now in its third series, the unashamedly heimeshe podcast has been described as ‘Graham Norton meets Mrs Maisel’. Over the past year, it has attracted a strong following of listeners, and featured big name guests such as writer, Anthony Horowitz and MP Luciana Berger.

Each episode sees Rachel and Philip chatting to their guests about all things Jewish and getting their thoughts and memories of their experiences growing up in a secular world. Topics for discussion range from reminiscing about their grandmother’s chicken soup, to discussing family gatherings and the obligatory broigus that followed, as well as the all-important philosophical questions that Jews throughout the centuries have pondered on – is it ‘beigel’ or ‘bagel’? For the record, Rachel, believes it is beigel, whereas Philip votes for bagel, but the jury is not out on that one!!

And talking of votes, voting is now open for the Listeners’ Choice Award as part of the British Podcast Awards, and ‘Jew Talkin’ to Me?’ is one of many podcasts hoping to be nominated.

It’s as easy as pie (or more accurately, strudel) to vote. Simply visit the British Podcast Awards website and fill in your details. Votes must be made by Sunday 4th July at 23:59, and the winner will be announced on Saturday 10th July, so please show your support.

Rachel, along with Philip and producer Russell Balkind who has produced comedy shows including the Mash Report, have all worked really hard in making the podcast a success, and they hope that through the support of their listeners they will get the votes that they need!

As Rachel explains: “We have all put our heart and soul (and kishkes) into ‘Jew Talkin’ To Me?’ and have massively appreciated everyone’s lovely comments about the show. We would be really grateful if those of you who have enjoyed our show, especially our bagel/beigel focused chit chat would vote for us in these awards!”
